The Villa Location
The Alus Bali Private Villa is located on the west side of the Petanu River (one kilometer south of Goa Gajah, the famous Elephant Cave ), just to the east of Ubud (only 5 minutes by car).
At 250 meters above sea level, some 50 meters higher than Ubud, the days are breezy and the nights cool (no air conditioning is needed).
Immediately across the river is a complex of small temples and bathing areas, including several lovely waterfalls. Early mornings and late afternoons offer cheerful scenes of communal bathing.
The Villa Alus is about one hour from Bali 's international airport, and the famous Kuta beach.
About The Villa
The Alus Bali private villa was built to combine Balinese open style contemporary living, with Western convenience and comfort. Built in 2001, and open for vacation rental in 2003, the Villa includes two Western style bedrooms each with a queen size bed and modern ensuite bathroom.
Traditional ceiling fans ensure quiet comfort as no air conditioning is needed, even during the day.
Balinese open style architecture with vaulted wooden and rattan ceilings, multiple wooden floors, large wooden roller blinds, solid "Jarti" (teak) wood furnishings, stone accents, large wooden "valley view" verandahs and chandeliers give this property a design look second to none in Bali. The villa has an outdoor stone swimming pool, with a shallow section and a waterfall, and boasts panoramic valley views over its overhanging, adjacent sun deck, which juts out into the valley. The second tier sun bathing deck, with equally outstanding views, plus a day rest gazebo and changing room with separate wash room, also adjoin the pool area.
The Villa Bedrooms
The villa has two Queen sized bedrooms, both furnished with elegant mosquito nets, which allow you to enjoy the superb, cool mountain valley breezes that flow along this area. The open style architecture of the bedrooms affords superb views over the garden and valley, yet the bedrooms and other villa areas enjoy absolute privacy due to their location. Ceiling fans, curtains, wooden furnishings (tables and chairs, etc.) plus a security box in each bedroom complete the bedroom furnishings list.
The Villa Bathrooms
Both villa bedrooms are equipped with their own private en suite (hot/cold water, tub and shower) bathrooms. Natural stone underfoot creates a feeling of shower in the hideaway island retreat with stone made bathtub overlooking the wide open high sky and the stars during the night. The villa also includes an additional two piece washroom for visitors.
The Villa Living Area
The living room, dining room and kitchen are all integrated under a spectacular wood and rattan two-tier ceiling within an overall Balinese open style design. The elevated living room is bordered by a traditional stone railing, fish pond, water fountains, and a flourishing Balinese garden. The floors are of wood and the furniture includes many Indonesian antiques.
The dining room, also bordered by the same traditional stone railing, holds a large eight place (six plus two configuration) dining table set under a large chandelier. The dining room includes quality flatware, crystal wineglasses and Royal Dolton fine china.
The kitchen is modern with beautiful marble counters, and is fully equipped. The Villa also includes an additional two washroom for visitors.
The adjacent living area, rich in Indonesian antiques, is surrounded by a fish pond, water fountains, and a flourishing Balinese garden.
The Villa Gardens
Sunbathing is facilitated at the Villa by a two-tier sundeck surrounded by a Balinese style garden overlooking the river and complemented with an adjacent garden shower.
The Outdoors
A traditional Balinese door (angkul-angkul) leads you down to the swimming pool (infinity style) by the cliff. The pool area includes a large overhanging sundeck, gazebo, changing room, and separate washroom. The pool location offers spectacular views of white water rapids on a section of the Petanu river to the south, and of the small temples and bathing areas across the river.

A mobile phone is provided for guest use (requires the guest to purchase usage card), suitable for local, national and International calls.
A standard telephone line is available, which is lap top and Internet friendly.
24 Hour staff, including 24 hour security and butler service.
Experienced / accomplished cook prepares morning breakfast (American) on a complimentary basis, and is available to prepare lunch / dinners at local market rates (the guest simply pays for the ingredients).
